ADHD Coaching

Cartoon image of brain that has lots of scrambled thoughts showing clear when someone signs a light on it.

There is so much information out there around ADHD that it can be overwhelming to know what to do for the best. One thing I want all of my clients to understand is that ADHD is not a brain deficiency, its a brain difference.

That is where coaching can help. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space to help you explore what works with your brain, not against it. There is not right or wrong answer as everyone’s experience with ADHD is different (For example, I have combined ADHD, can struggle with time under-estimating but excel at organisation). What there is, is a tailored plan that works for you, with you in the drivers seat of the changes that can support your life.

I take a holistic approach that looks at not only strategies and techniques to help you support your challenges and promote your strengths, but also consider other areas of your life, such as stress, diet and sleep, that can further help you thrive. I can also support you in developing inner neurodivergence confidence, so that you can be more resilient against internalising the negative perceptions of others in regards to what ADHD means.

Chronic Pain Coaching

How the STILL Method works with pain The STILL Method was created as an anxiety framework. It has proved powerful for people living with long term pain because both experiences involve a nervous system that has been on alert for far too long.

The method is designed to support for adults and older teens living with ongoing pain or health conditions where ordinary life has quietly changed. This is not about pretending the pain is in your mind. It is about working with the nervous system side of pain, so your body does not have to stay in fight mode all the time.

People who deal with ongoing pain has already seen doctors, specialists or clinics. The coaching I offer does not replace that care. What it does is gives you a place to work with the emotional and nervous system impact of pain, so you do not have to carry that part on your own.

But why? Pain does not only hurt. It changes how safe your body feels. Over time fear and worry often begin to wrap around the pain. Then you end up dealing with anxiety as well as pain. None of this means you are weak or imagining things. It is how a human nervous system behaves when life has felt unpredictable for a long time. The STILL Method pain support starts by acknowledging this. Your pain story and your anxiety story are treated as one connected experience.

STILL Method pain support is non clinical and trauma informed. It does not offer diagnosis, prescribe medication or advise you to stop treatment.

Disability and Neurodiversity in the Workplace

This area of coaching can cover many topics, and its up to you, the client, what you want to focus on.

The main goal for all disabled and/or neurodivergent individual is inner confidence, and realising that their disability and/or neurodivergence is not something broken to be fixed, but a part of their identity that they should embrace. Whilst this part of our identity might not always be without challenges, its part of who we are, and can come with strengths as well. When we accept who we are, and recognise that we do not have to be defined by the misguided and often ableist perceptions of others, we are better equipped to deal with the world. This is regardless of whether we share are story with others.

If you do wish to share your story, I can coach you through how that conversation might look like. Using role play techniques and positive language coaching, we can work to optimise the outcome you desire.

If you want to understand your needs and potential accommodation requirements, I employ the 10 Dimension of Work framework. Based on research by the Neurodiversity Education Academy, this framework takes you through areas of sensory needs, emotional regulation, physical space, communication, team work and more, to see how you work and what you need to be successful. This then allows you to understand your needs and allows us to explore your potential accommodations.

If you are not sure you are ready for coaching yet, or just want to understand about reasonable adjustments, check out the following resources as a starting point:

Askjan.org for all types of accommodations, where you can filter by disability or neurodivergence.

If you are a manager looking for coaching on how to support someone with disability and/or neurodivergence, I help you explore precise language, ableism, performance support and reasonable adjustments.

What Clients Say…

Just two sessions with Elaine and I understood so much more about my needs and what accommodations would support me. She helped me consider things from a whole new perspective and now I am so much more confident in advocating for myself.
